In this day and age of instant gratification 2 months sounds like an extremely long time to wait for the results you want.  You probably think that 2 months sounds like an adequate amount of time in which to lose a substantial amount of weight such as 30 pounds.  The most common reasons for wanting to lose such an amount of weight quickly are special events such as a wedding, a high school reunion, or a vacation so that you can look good in your bathing suit.  However, on the quest to lose 30 pounds in 2 months, it is still a very short period of time in which to get good results.  According to most research 2 pounds per week is considered a safe and healthy rate of weight loss which you will be able to be maintain long term.  This means that 15 weeks is a much more realistic time frame for losing 30 pounds than the goal of 8 weeks.

Fad diets and weight loss programs utilizing weight loss supplements and/or prepackaged foods claim to offer success in losing 30 pounds in 2 months.  Many people are drawn into these types of diets and weight loss programs because they claim big losses for minimal effort.  These types of programs are often unsafe, unhealthy, and unreliable.  There are numerous fad diets which are currently popular, but just because something is popular it does not mean that it’s something which should be followed.

Weight loss programs which utilize weight loss supplements are particularly popular as everyone is looking for a quick fix which requires minimal effort.  Many weight loss supplements appear to offer rapid weight loss just by taking a few pills each day.  In general, weight loss supplements claim to work in one or more of the following ways by suppressing appetite, by absorbing excess fat or other nutrients from the foods consumed, by boosting metabolism, or by increasing fat burning.  Weight loss supplements are not well regulated and because of this they are not required to follow the same rules and regulations as other medications.  Often times weight loss supplements are high in caffeine or other stimulants which can be harmful when consumed in excess.  Because of the lack of regulation it is important to do proper research before beginning to take any type of supplement.  The risks and side effects listed on many weight loss supplements are frightening and if you read the fine print you will see that most of these supplements state that the results claimed are not typical nor are they guaranteed.  In fact most weight loss supplements suggest that in order to see results you should follow their calorie restricted diet plan and participate in a regular exercise program.  In many cases simply following the suggested calorie restricted diet and exercise program can provide similar results without utilizing the weight loss supplement.
